Save the Earth, Save the cheerleaders!

picture found here , thanks edi.

It's Earth Day today!
it was founded by Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin
unlike the Earth Hour which i have been participating since the start in 2007
accordingly, Earth Day has been around since 1970
way before i was born *hmmm... at least it's older than me...* ;P
but i only got to know about it just a couple of weeks ago when i started joining Bloggers Unite.

apart from doing my regular recycling bits & pieces..
using those energy saving light bulbs at home..
leaving those wild shrubs at the back of my 'English garden' *wink*
& occasionally planting some little medicinal & herbs trees n plants...
i think i still have a lot more to do...in order to help save the earth for the benefit of our future generations....
or they will start asking their parents ( we've probably long gone by then)
how does rain, snow, trees...etc (like Wall-E) looks like...

unlike the caption in the Heroes TV show: Save the cheerleader, Save the world.
in our case, it should be: Save the Earth, Save our Future Generations (including the cheerleaders if necessary ;P)

Happy Earth Day all!

those 3 lil words...

a little update on Laith's love interest..
he was calling his so called girlfriend~ 'HY' last nite using my mobile phone when i picked him up from his tuition class to ask about some homework problems. i didn't exactly paid much attention to what they were chatting about but i almost had a HEART ATTACK! when at the end of the conversation i heard 'HY' said quietly....

in the cutest kind of way...
i mean, no doubt it's just so adorable...she has this kind of cute husky lil girl voice...like if u 're watching those smitten little children characters in movie kind of cute, cute...kind of way...
but when those movie characters come to life & one of the character happens to be ur own child...'dizzy' is not even a word!@_@

do they even know what those 3 little words mean? is it even legal at that age?

ok i need to lie down for a bit...

He's only 10 but now... he's in L.O.V.E!

aish...call it whatever..crush, puppy love...my boy Laith is now in Love!!! *________*
sometimes last week, he blushingly told us that he likes a girl 'LH' in his class but since she has way too many admirers...(they even exchange pictures thru the phone, mind u!)
two days ago, he had a change of heart & decided that he likes another girl 'HY' better who seems to adore him (like she loves pinching his chubby cheeks like...& thinks that he's cute...).
oii whatdoido, whatdoido???

it's good that he opens up about his feelings and all but at this age...*sigh*.  well i 'm not stopping him but i don't  exactly encourage him either....whatdoido, whatdoido???

on a positive note...he loves going to school even when he's not feeling very well... he just insists on not missing school! good hey!? *___*

all i can say is...haish...kids these days!!!;?

oops...it's a mistake!

let's face it...
no one is perfect
& that everyone makes mistakes
so here's a 'PING' to all of us...

ever heard of a saying
a rose by any other name would smell as sweet?
well...
a mistake by any other name;
be it spoken or by action..
BIG or small..
call it..
stupid mistake,
silly mistake
careless mistake
it simply is a mistake
a 'take' that u've *'mis'took! :P

however much we'd love
to undo
to delete
to forget

what's done is done
what said is said
only words written can be deleted or struck (like this)

if we are lucky enough there is of course
a lucky mistake
a once in a blue moon occurrence
as good as any of us winning a lottery!
(that is if we ever buy one!)

a mistake is usually unintentional
we only know its a mistake
after we *'mistook'!

one good thing comes out of it...
we learn from our mistake
not just from our own but
from others too...

of course it'll be great
if we can just wash our hands &
forget about it
or better still
if we can simply blame others
for those mistakes

it's the most precious life lesson...
learn from mistakes..
ours & others...

Music Monday #9~ Feelings by Morris Albert

here comes Monday!!!

here's a song that my siblings & i used to sing to every time we had blackouts at home when we were kids..my eldest brother A1 (probably around 9 or 10 at the time), armed with a tennis racket pretending to be a guitar will sing this song to his heart content & the rest of us will join in during the 'wo..ooo..feeling...' part!
it was good fun cos that is the only part i know how to sing anyway...xD

i've forgotten this song for quite awhile until we were sitting in the dark during earth hour a week ago last month.

oh i've never knew who sang this song until i search for this song for this week's Music Monday entry.

Come join Music Monday and share your songs with us. Rules are simple. Leave ONLY the ACTUAL LINK POST here and grab the code below and place it at your blog entry. You can grab this code at LadyJava's Lounge Please note these links are STRICTLY for Music Monday participants only. All others will be deleted without prejudice.

It's your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude

Here is a story that I would like to share with you today.

Once there was an old and very wise man. Every day he would sit outside a gas station in his rocking chair and wait to greet motorists as they passed through his small town. On this day, his granddaughter knelt down at the foot of his chair and slowly passed the time with him.

As they sat and watched the people come and go, a tall man who surely had to be a tourist -- since they knew everyone in the town -- began looking around as if he were checking out the area for a place to live.

The stranger walked up and asked,"So what kind of town is this that we're in?"

The older gentleman slowly turned to the man and replied," Well, what kind of town are you from?"

The tourist said,"In the town I'm from everyone is very critical of each other. The neighbours all gossip about everyone, and it's a real negative place to live. I'm sure glad to be leaving. It is not a very cheerful place. "

The man in the chair looked at the stranger and said," You know, that's just how this town is."

An hour or so later a family that was also passing through stopped for gas. The car slowly turned in and rolled to a stop in front of where the older gentleman and his granddaughter were sitting. The mother jumped out with two small children and asked where the restrooms were. The man in the chair pointed to a small, bent-up sign that was barely hanging by one nail on the side of the door.

The father stepped out of the car and also asked the man,"Is this town a pretty good place to live?"

The man in the chair replied," What about the town you are from? How is it?"

The father looked at him and said,"Well, in the town I'm from everyone is very close and always willing to lend their neighbour a helping hand. There's always a hello and thank you everywhere you go. I really hate to leave. I feel almost like we are leaving family. "

The older gentlemen turned to the father and gave him a warm smile.

"You know, that's a lot like this small town."

Then the family returned to the car, said their thank yous, waved goodbye and drove away.

After the family was in the distance, the granddaughter looked up at her grandfather and asked,"Grandpa, how come when the first man came into our town you told him it was a terrible place to live and when the family came in to town you told them it was a wonderful place to live? "

The grandfather lovingly looked down at this granddaughter's wondering blue eyes and said,"No matter where you move, you take your own attitude with you and that's what makes it terrible or wonderful. "

It's your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude. Happiness is not something you find, it's something you create.

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

he died of pancreatic cancer in 2008, but wrote a book ‘The last lecture” before then, one of the bestsellers in 2007. What a legacy to leave behind…
In a letter to his wife Jai and his children, Dylan, Logan, and Chloe, he wrote this beautiful "guide to a better life" for his wife and children to follow. May you be blessed by his insight.

POINTS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE

Personality:
1. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment
3. Don't over do; keep your limits
4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does
5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip
6. Dream more while you are awake
7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present
11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.
Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
13. Smile and laugh more
14. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Community:
15. Call your family often
16. Each day give something good to others
17. Forgive everyone for everything
18. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6
19. Try to make at least three people smile each day
20. What other people think of you is none of your business
21. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
22. Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say and do.
23. GOD heals everything
24. Do the right things
25. However good or bad a situation is, it will change
26. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
27. The best is yet to come
28. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful
29. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it
30. If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy.

While you practice all of the above,
share this knowledge with the people you love,
people you go to school with,
people you play with, people you work with and
people you live with.
Not only will it enrich YOUR life, but also that of those around you.

Terjemahan drpd Catatan AD:

Kasihnya saudara ...
Istimewa untuk Suffian Miqhail & Nur Dhaniah

Si Abang tahu ...
semua orang sedang menunggu kehadiran mereka...
mereka juga sedikit teruja
Ya...jadi ... mereka tampil dengan kejutan ... Cuma ...
sedikit pun tidak mereka menyangka ...
mereka dua minggu terlebih awal...

kerana Si Abang tahu ...
dalam segara Biru itu ...
semua mata tertumpu pada si duyung Merah Jambu
jadi biarlah abang mengalah ...
Itu kan kasihnya saudara ...
Si Abang tahu & Si Abang berkorban.
Teruskan perjuanganmu Dhaniah.
Jangan sesekali kau lupa, sayang ...
bahawa Abangmu ini sentiasa mengasihimu....
& kami juga tidak akan lekang berdoa untuk mu....

25 March at 15:08  like  13 people
