sisters in crime- best friends forever...

we were related to each other by marriage. when my youngest BIL~ k'ry married his wife sue in 2005 we hardly see each other after the wedding accept on the alternate weekends that they come back to my PIL's house, during family get together or during hari raya. we talk over the phone or ym each other occasionally...only when necessary...in short we were civilized to each other when we are in the same room under the same roof or as & when the situation calls for one.

everything changed sometime in the middle of last year, when my hubby joey & his 2 brothers jomey & k'ry (sue's hubby) got involved with the recreational paintball game, at first we thought it was just going to be a one off thing... both the game & us~ meaning me & sue. however, it turn out to be something serious when all three of them actually bought a marker (paintball gun)each.
& while we waited on the men we started to get to know each other after 3 years of our cordial greetings & updates...;P

our friendships started to bloom from one paintball game to another. i remember on the boys first game, we (sue, eyna~my hubby's sister & shia~ our niece & i) went out on all girls day out to sunway pyramid... it was a weekend before her birthday (8th of july).. i bought her a teddy bear as her present when i saw the look on her face when she first saw the bear at the gift shop, knowing full well that she loves all those cuddly soft toys stuff & true enough she loved it & the look on her face just like in those MasterCard's advertisement~priceless!!

at first the boys were not very supportive on us tagging along during the game, purely on account that it wouldn't look so macholah kan with the wives hovering around but later on thought they needed us to take photographs of them during their battle..hence we officially 'unofficially' became their war journalists / photographers..& the bonding become stronger...

from paintball, the boys ventured into playing computer games-CoD4 (Call of Duty 4)& CoH (Company of Heroes)at the cybercafe with some friends. that eventually becomes hubby's day/ night care center! this actually gives us the opportunity to hang around with each other even more often by going shopping, dining, having pedicure & manicure done @ the spa next door to the cybercafe or simply enjoying each other's company by exchanging hot gossips & stuff @ the mamak's while waiting for them ( the hubbies) to finish their games...

she is not just a friend but she is also a sister to me despite our age differences. we become each others confidante, to share our feelings, our happiness, our anger & sorrow, things that sometimes the hubbies would not appreciate nor understand.
over the months we've become much closer...

the truth is i am choosy when it comes to friends. i am the kind who would observe a potential friend whether she could actually accept the crazy part of me or not. i can be very loud & sarcastic at times...

ma used to tell me when i was young that~ "it's better not to like someone new on our first meet or instantly because usually those are the people that u tend to hang out with or the one that u can count on later & those are the people that would & could become ur best friend forever then to like a person at an instance & later just couldn't bare to see each others face for any reasons whatsoever in the end..." well what she said has proven right through out my friendships experiences...

i do not want to hurt anyone who does not understand me unintentionally...
with sue, we tolerate & understand each other well. i dunno about her but i really enjoy myself around her... she can be very innocent at times & i love that about her

of course i have friends but it's been a long time since i have a best friend...
sue is not just a sister to me now but we are sisters in crime & definitely be best friends forever! Love u sis (((mwah)))

a clasmate who is not a friend...

when i was going thru some old school photos at ma's place few months ago, i came across a couple of group photos of my classmates & i. one of those classmates was this *tut* girl who thought she's all that but of course she's not at all if u know what i mean...;P

i remember a couple of years after i got married, i bumped into her at a clinic & was kinda excited to see someone i knew from school after a long time..
so i said hello to her & even bloody remembered her name~i am rather good with names, sometimes...to which i regretted later...
to my dismay she acted as if she didn't recognize me and said..."im sorry i don't remember u...!
*tut*!!! ok i admit that i wasn't that popular at school but damn we were classmates for at least the last 2 years we were there & 5-6 years in the same *btut*tuty* school!
in my attempt to safe my embarrassment i tried to remind her of my name & which class we belonged to & mentioned some of the much popular classmates that i used to hangout with... & with her chubby *tut*tut* face she just smiled brazenly & again said she didn't remember me...

oh well...

that's her~the one sitting & blocking everyone else- the chubby big hair one-*Btut*!!!

so, when i uploaded those photos into my facebook album after i've found some of my classmates & schoolmates in facebook & many of whom still remember me...i received a request from this *btut* girl to tag a photo of herself from my album...the cheek of her~ needless to say i rejected her request! ;P

Donald & Daisy duck in the Underworld: Rise of the Lycans movie sets...!?

this is actually a very funny haha sort of scenario....

do u ever noticed that over the years we tend to see our friends more than we do of our relatives unless..some of our relatives happen to also be our friends lah...

anyway this is about~ how often do we actually see our relatives socially...!?
more than often we only see them during festive seasons, weddings & funerals ( well of course this one not the happy- to- see- u- here sort of occasion of course but still one of those events when we actually bump into some of our relatives like it or not..)
& sometimes when we do meet these so called relatives...it's more often than not, only happen in a certain set of events or places where we tend to associate people or in this case our relatives in a particular set of scenarios...for instance we only see some set of relatives exclusively during raya / festive seasons, & some only at weddings & of course another set will probably be at funerals....& when we occasionally bump into them outside the setting, our mind play havoc...

this happened to hubby & i a few Saturdays ago (it was during the valentine's weekend) after coming back from our weekly visit to my parents in Shah Alam. on the way back to Semenyih, we decided to drop by at the Curves but ended up going to Ikea instead cos suddenly i felt the craving for some of those Ikea's curry puffs bad..but no not craving 'craving' just for not been having 'em for quite awhile cravings craving if u know what i mean...hehehe...

when we got there, Laith ceremoniously announced the urgency to visit the washroom... so while he went about to do his business, we loitered around at the lobby waiting...awhile later i saw my hubby waving @ someone, i looked at the direction he was facing and was looking @ someone rather familiar but can't place the face instantly and asked "who is that?"...."my niece!" was his answer..hmmm...by marriage~ she's my niece too lah...
laaaa....& it turned out to be one of the 6 daughters of my hubby's cousin... she walked towards us & salam both of us & ask for Laith....& said "what are u guys doing here? " to which we good-naturedly answered "oh nothing much, just feel like grabbing some of 'em curry puffs...hahaha... ".
with that confused & somewhat amazed look on her face she said " hehe... it's kinda weird to see u guys here...hahaha..." yeah i know what she meant, i felt the same way too, it's utterly butterly strange to bump into someone whose part & role has been the same year after year...relatives that u meet during raya, at weddings or funerals unfortunately...

but what i found funny was...she (& to be honest i too) had that malay drama director look on the face that says ...' wait a minute, this is all wrong~ CUT! u don't belong in this scene, it's all wrong... the time of year, the place, the costumes...are all wrong!

the scene u belong to should be;
when: the 3rd day of raya not- on a valentines' weekend,
venue: rumah Tok Mat in Semenyih not- Ikea / the Curves,
costume: baju melayu raya not- casuals,
Role: We, play part of the hosts- She, plays the happy to see all the usual Semenyih raya food served on the table.
it's like Walt Disney characters suddenly make an appearance in a totally bizarre Underworld:Rise of the Lycans movie sets...

a total mismatched that's for sure..! :P

random me...

this is another getting to know me better thingy that they came up with in facebook... since i've already done it, i thought i might as well just post it here..

&these are my 25 random facts...
1. i am hopelessly devoted to my son~ Laith & my hubby~ Joey- the two most important people in my life.

2. Call me old fashion but i met my hubby through a get together cum blind date set up by a few mutual friends including 3 of my 4 brothers! but i guess that was a match made in heaven. i was told about him on May 30th 1999, we met on June 10th 1999, got engaged on July 24th 1999 & got married on the 19th September 1999. we love each other rotten...he is just everything that i'm not.

3. Golf is a passion instilled in me since i was young by my beloved baba~ now i got to enjoy it with my hubby & my daddy- in- law...

4. Pink is not my colour but i don't hate it to the point i can't stand it (my golf balls are Pink!). i love blue but when i go out shopping for clothes (even if i like the colour on the mannequin or on display) i always ended up with white, black, brown or gray something...but i do occasionally throw in some red tops here & there for color.

5. about 5 years ago, i just had the urge to do oil painting, so i went out to the art supplies store and bought myself two canvases, oil paints, paint brushes, linseed oil etc... until now they are still sitting pretty & gathering dust in the box somewhere in the storeroom of my house!

6.When i was about 6 years old- hmmm...that was quite a long time ago too... i used to owned a pet (white feathered) turkey & i called it 'klook-klook'~ because of the sound it made. but one day it died for some unknown reason, it broke my heart bad...so i cried & i cried & i cried...ma tried to replace it with another turkey but it's just not the same...so i gave up at having any pets until today!

7. uuuh... somehow i've managed to get to #7.... i prefer a small company of friends, considerably shy & don't enjoy talking about myself much...but when i do i just can't stop!!! hahaha...
it takes a while for me to warm up to new people... but i make a good listener.

8. i love flowers in general~ daisies, white lily, orchids to name a few...but Sunflower has been & still is my all time favorite flower, so are those bright yellow daffodils during spring time back in the UK...i love 'em bad!!

9. Scotland is definitely one of my favorite place in the world...it's just so peaceful & quiet out there.

10. i have a phase at cooking/ baking, gardening or doing art & crafts... i will start doing something for a couple of days, weeks or months sometimes until i get bored & then i 'lll move on to do other things...but somehow all of the above activities will recycle on it's own free will...hahaha

11. i go high on tea & coffee w /wo milk @ anytime of day & night...so i just don't drink tea or coffee~ end of story.

12. Don't hate me but i love the rain... i love the sound of it...it's so calming..i used to play in the rain when i was little...and as i'm typing this, it's raining outside- that's possibly why i could tolerate the English weather too!

13. i don't like scary movies or thrillers...but i love those mythical- epic high fantasy ~Lord of the Rings / Narnia type of movies.

14. i love sushi * the one thing that i have yet to attempt DIY myself..a Japanese friend- Jun Mitsui taught me once yonks ago (during my student years) on how to make a variety of those delicious yummy 'sushies' but i still couldn't make myself go buy that little bamboo mat for it..cos i thought it's a lot easier to go have 'em @Sushi King or just grab a tray or two from the sushi counter at the supermarket instead...cheaper & less hassle!;P

15. Some people might be offended by this statement but this is my personal opinion (sorry people)~ even though i am not allowed to have them, i think i'm a dog person.. i thought dogs are more loyal then cats...but i wouldn't know cos i never owned either one.

16. i prefer Star Wars then Star Trek.

17. Robert Ludlum & Jeffery Archer are two of my favorite authors- they are absolutely brilliant!

18. i never used to like Asam Laksa/ Laksa Penang cos i thought the laksa noodle just do not blend well with the fish gravy until i decided to try cook it myself...& somehow i managed to get my son asking for more & my hubby who doesn't like fish that much hooked on it!

19. Talking about fish, i thought stingrays are ghostly cute... my first encounter with them was when i visited the underwater world in New Zealand years ago & i adore them ever since.

20. Pitaya / Dragon fruit(red in particular) is my favorite fruit...it has that acquired taste to it...hmmm...i loike!

21. errr...21 Jump Street used to be my favorite TV program!? *blush*

22. Snickers...i love Snickers...nope, definitely not a Mars bar person!

23. Seriously i'd never thought i'd come this far... but the forming of the clouds in the sky fascinates me..& i love taking pics of em too...

24. i love olives in any form. they are godsend from heaven.

25. my wish & resolution for the year of the OX~2009- is to work harder for a baby girl- Yee Ha!;P

Cake in a Mug~chocolate cake lovers...wanna quickie?

i wasn't all that interested when i first saw this in my inbox~ The most dangerous chocolate cake recipe in the world- didn't even bother to open it. then i received another one that says- Chocolate cake in a mug in 5 minutes...oh well since i was doing yet another inbox spring cleaning i opened it just so that i can get on & delete it.

i was very skeptical when i saw the recipe...

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract and your favorite tipple
1 large coffee mug

ok it sounds simple enough & i do have all the ingredients at home, feeling rather adventurous i tried the recipe last nite.

Add dry ingredients to your largest mug and mix well. make sure it's those starbuck type of mug or the mixture will drip when rise.

Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips (if using), vanilla extract and a drop or two of your favorite tipple, then mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high).
( there is suppose to be a picture of the mug in the microwave oven~ however, since my domestic cleaner- kak mis forgot to clean it up the last time she came around... i had to leave the picture outlah...;P)

if u think cupcake is too small, try mugcake instead..
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

If you're feeling very very naughty, cover liberally in Bailey's Irish Cream.

variation to the above, i covered the cake with peanut butter+ chocolate topping, or if u like~ have em with vanilla sauce or even a scoop or two of ice creams of ur own choice.

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?

Because now you are only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night! &..
here's an evil suggestion~ it's so quick & easy u can now make it at the pantry & enjoy ur mugcake at the office too...hehehe >;P....

note:
try it, it only takes 2 minutes of preparation & 3 minutess to cook in the microwave oven...
it's particularly brilliant as an instant after dinner dessert or when u have an unexpected guest over..
oh it doesn't really have to be in a mug, any microwave oven proof dish will do too..

a lil about me- SunnyLovesRain & why i started blogging...

i know my nick sounds very native American like but that's just because i like to think that i'm cheerful& bright like the sun not forgetting as moody too like the sun unfortunately rather unpredictable like the rain;P.. oh but i seriously like it when it rains...

anyway what my horoscope says about me is nearly true...& i repeat nearly true...

courtesy of Regina Russell of Regina Russell's tea room
The sign Aquarius is symbolized by the Water Carrier. (that explains the rain)

Your sign element is air. (that's is probably why i'm so airheaded!?)

You like time saving devices and enjoy reading. (very much)

Aquarius is modern, progressive, diplomatic, and humanitarian. (i'd like to think that i am)

Independence and a feeling of freedom is necessary. (hmmm i'm not so sure about the independence part though..but feeling of freedom YES!)

Aquarius has a strong will, and is original, inventive, and will always enjoy doing the unexpected. (yeah baby~ these so me!)

Aquarius is also creative, scientific, quick, unconventional, friendly and enjoys groups of people or belonging to clubs. (creative, quick & unconventional definitely, scientific~ hmmm i dunno, friendly~ this is tricky- i am very choosy & picky when it comes to friends...but once i get acquainted with them yeah i'd enjoy their company)

Aquarius is intellectual, faithful, and intuitive, with an ability to "see through people". (yes to all the rest & faithful is my other second name!)

You may lead a bohemian or hippie lifestyle. (this i like!)

Possible negative aspects of the sign Aquarius:
You can be self centered.
Aquarius can be nervous and high strung, erratic, opinionated, impractical, and often a public charge. (guilty as charged!)

personally, i used to go against blogging, rather oldschool i would say~ to me it's like when u write a diary...it's very personal, u don't read other people's diary do u...& up till today i still don't enjoy reading other people's blogs...
why am i blogging now if u must ask... simply a way to express myself, i don't really care if people were to stop by & read my blog or not...
i just have story to tell & i like to write it down...

so here's a little nobody me (In my own words) just like what is written on About me box on the top left hand side with a slight explanations to the who, the what & the why.

Aida is part of a long winded given name written in my BC. Sunny is my alter ego & i love it when it rains. i thought it makes the most calming sound after the waterfall and the waves and the freshly cut grass...hmmm...the later is more to smell ainnit, oh well whatever...but it makes me feel at ease.

SIMPLE is simply is my other middle name...well sure i complain & whine  a little at times...that's just to either share my inner thoughts  n feelings or simply being piss off at things or people..
I am flexible, adaptable & very uncomplicated. i get frustrated & annoyed when people make a mountain out of a mole hill.

above all that...i always make sure to count on my blessings regularly...
so basically i am what my posts are all about. i am a very simple person but not necessarily predictable.

i'm not sure if what i write ever make sense buti guess this is my way to write all my day to day experience~ my life journey...hence the name Under the Sun in the Rain came about...

hope u'd enjoy what i write & walk beside me through the journey of a nobody me...

xoxo...what the fish!?

xoxo....
according to Wikipedia: Hugs and kisses, also love and kisses, is a term for a sequence of the letters X and O, e.g. XOXO, typically to express affection or good friendship at the end of a written letter, email or SMS text message.

The Oxford English Dictionary states that X is "used to represent a kiss. There is no general consensus on the origins of the O as a hug. The X could relate to the shape formed when two arms are crossed in a hug, forming a type of X. The 'O' may also refer to the pursing of the lips when kissing.

Similarly, written letters or greetings cards often include 'X' after a person's name or signature to indicate a kiss.

There is much debate on whether X's represent hugs or kisses. Some argue that X's represent kisses, but due to the "hugs and kisses" paradigm, some contend that 'X' is in fact lined up with the 'hug' and 'O' with the kiss. Also, arms crossing while hugging indicate an X while puckered lips form an O.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it is perfectly acceptable when it is being signed off by someone who is close to u & this often the case of between couples, among gfs with their bffs & relatives...
but what happens when the person who signed business related emails ~in this case~ happen to be ur business associate who is suppose to be a professional! & so happen to be of opposite sex & knowing full well that the person on the receiving end happens to be married too~ that's crikey!!! it's just beyond me....
it's the 20th century where everything that u need to know is just a mouse click away.... including what the fish does xoxo means!
not clever? may be not.... ignorant definitely!!!! blame my PMT for this but being young is no excuse for being ignorant! why on earth would they put a bloody xoxo for under 'Regards' on the pretense that they have not a clue what it means...? don't they bother to find out what xoxo means before using it with abundance!?
just because the person sitting next to them uses it doesn't mean that they get to use it too...inappropriately... that is! well it simply gives wrong impressions...
my suggestion is~ if in doubt, just type ur name at the end of the email & be done with it. how absolutely boring i know.... but...better be safe then to endure absolute embarrassment...
Warmest regards,
SunnyLovesRain :D
question: y is it a bother to me?
answer: simply because the stupid ignorant person happens to be a woman architect corresponding with my hubby. yeah it's work related but it's just outrageous!!!
A Message by George Carlin
Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate..i just love this it's just so today!
A Message by George Carlin:
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.
A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Kak Ruby Oh Kak Ruby...kenapakah kau...!?
i've forgotten all about this incident until i was reminded by fawawa & i decided to write it down in my note.
this note is about my weird tele-conversation with a very strange woman whom i barely knew~ " the Weirdress' -a female version for weirdo!?
this incident happened sometime last year while waiting for my hubby to call ( he was away for the C&C paintball weekend held in Penang). my battery was already showing those yellow bar line-pandai sangat... i ter left my charger @the office unfortunately. so while waiting for the call, Laith & i decided to
'laypark' in bed while i did some reading & he was fiddling with the camera.
it was around 945pm when the phone started ringing, though i was expecting for my hubby to call, that didn't stop me from looking at the caller ID. it was a shock to see who it was.. i contemplated at 1st if i should answer the call because the screen read ~ Kak Ruby.
Kak Ruby is a lady golfer i met at my local home club ( Staffield GCR) while i was queuing up at the golf registration counter, she befriended me. she asked if i was playing on my own & if i'd like to join her & her 2 other friends to make a flight of four to which i replied that i was in fact playing with my hubby & my DIL. i politely declined since i was on my second round of nine anyway & i had to rush back to work after that. she then asked for my phone number & said if in case we'd like to play together someday we could give each other a call.. & so i agreed- to be polite....orang melayukan...kenalah berbudi bahasa, lebih-lebih lagi dengan orang yang lebih dewasa...
anyway, back to the phone call...Laith kept asking me who kak Ruby was & i thought i might as well find out why she's calling...my best guess was that she probably wanted to invite me for a round of golf in the weekend. it was during that long weekend before Aidil Adha on the following Monday...
so here's the excerpt from the conversation in malay;
kak Ruby: Assalamualkum
me: Walaikumsalam kak Ruby
kak Ruby: Apa Khabar Sunny, Sunny tengah buat ape?
me: khabar baik, tak de ape kak Ruby, just tunggu phone call dari hubby, de outstation.
kak Ruby: Sunny dah makan?
me: dah kak Ruby dah almost kul 10 dah... kak ruby(dah makan)?
kak Ruby: dah ( & she went silent...i was the one pulak yang nak kena keep the conversation going)
(ok this is the intro part yg biasa dan boringlah... we'll get to the interestingly freaking creepy part in a bit)
me: ada ape kak Ruby (call)?
kak Ruby: tak ade ape... saje nak raya...
me: huh!!!?? (i thought i heard wrong so i said) nak ajak main golf ke?
kak Ruby: tak lah akak pun dah lama tak main...
( ok kalau saje call & bukan nak ajak main golf then...alamak ni sure nak jual kuih raya ni!!! @ this point i thought if she wanted to sell me some kueh raya i would have to say, we don't really celebrate Aidil Adha lah...)
me: owh...(raking my brain nak tanye apa lagi ya...), so ni tadi kak Ruby tengah buat ape?
Kak Ruby: tak ade ape-ape....
(issshhh...dah tak dak ape nak cerita, apsal lah plak call ni...!? nak je tanya " kak Ruby, what is it that u want!?)
me: eeer...kak Ruby call ni ade ape ye...(finally...dah tak tahan dah lagi to be put on suspense lama sangat)
kak Ruby: tak ade ape...saje nak raya...
me: huh!!!??? ( wah pelik betul nih..dari tadi dia jawab nak raye- nak raye...)
( then suddenly she started talking...)
Kak Ruby: Raya tak balik Kampung?
me: tak ...raya kat semenyih je, kalu balik pon balik shah alam umah mak ayah...kak Ruby balik? kampung kat mane?
Kak Ruby: tak jugak...kalu balik pun balik kuantan (& mention a certain place that i am not familiar of but quite close to teluk chempedak)
me: oh kuantan saya ade juga saudara kat kuantan .
Kak Ruby: oh ye ke.. kat mane?
me: somewhere kat teluk chempedaklah sebelah hubby tapi tak ingat ape name tempat.
( by now she sorta dah macam drifted off & expected me to ask her questions...pelik betul makcik ni- suara dia macam she was kinda lonely tapi... hmmm not sure how to describe..but sebab nak jadi polite punye pasal cos i still don't see any reason why i shouldn't be lah kan.. )
....& here comes the pelik part...
Kak ruby: Kak rumah ade sape?
(since i was at my PIL's house..)
me: saya, anak, mak & ayah..
kak Ruby: ade berapa orang?
me: (huh)??? err... adelah... ( now i was thinking she was one of those MLM ppl trying to persuade me for an appontment of some sort...)
kak Ruby: cuba sebut ade siape...
me: errr... kenape ye kak Ruby?? ( peliknye it just didn't occur to me that i should just cut her off then & there)
kak Ruby: cuba sebut ade siape...
(macam kena pukau....saya terus menjawab...)
me: ade mak, ayah, makcik...
kak Ruby: makcik siape?
(ehh... de kenal ke?)
me: err adelah makcik, dia memang tinggal sekali...
Kak Ruby: nama makcik siapa...
(isshh...kenapalah takleh nak cut her off nih!)
me: kenapa kak Ruby nak tawu ye...
(dia tak jawab pun)
Kak Ruby: Ayah buat ape?
(e eh...melampau ni! tapi still tak boleh nak press that red button...)
me: tengok tv..
titty ;P
i found this strange looking fruit of some sort (i didn't know what it was & of course no idea what the name is & sure enough i've never seen it before) on the way to send my son ~Laith & nephews ~Sam & Mike to mengaji @ a neighbor's (nenek) house a couple of weeks back..or rather like a month ago now..i suppose... as we were walking towards the house i stumbled upon this strange looking bright colored fruits lying on the ground, still attached to a dead branch.
what amazes me is that, the color of the fruit is just so intensely vibrant~ bright yellowish/ greenish orange. it keeps me wondering if it is an eggplant, a kind of tomato, a local species of capsicum/ bell pepper or could it even be a type of gourd?
but the shape of the fruit reminds me of a goat's udder! seriously, no kidding... ;P
see what i mean...
i picked one up & asked the nenek what it was & she told me that the fruit is locally known as "buah susu kambing" or loosely translated as "goat's nipple" & it is from the same family of terung (eggplant) she said.... hmmm...i wasn't so wrong there i thought...clever girl...!
in wonderment, i Google it up once i was back to the office. since i wasn't sure of the English name for the fruit so i typed "terung" under the Google image search... a couple of image pages later, there it was the image of the exact same fruit that i have in my hand which is indeed called 'terung susu kambing" or the scientific name for it is~ Solanum Mammosum. This fruit is related to the naranjilla and tomato species ( from wekipedia)...err...not terung then??
this photo is rather obscene! *blush* on the other hand, if u put two eyes there, it would certainly look like lil yellow miss piggy or a lion with the dead leaf pose as it's mane?? i dunno be creative... imagine...
i also found out that the exotic looking fruit has many other native known nick names that put a smile on my face such as ~ Goat's nipple, Nipple fruit, Titty Fruit, Cow's Udder (goat's udder is probably more suitable for it smallish size) or ambiguously, "apple of Sodom" hmmm...,nyun wenkibobi, soresumba, mackaw bush, Pichichio (in Costa Rica) among others...
this fruit is native to South America, but has been naturalized in the Greater Antilles, Central America and Caribbean..& of course, my homeland~ Malaysia!
accordingly, the plant is usually grown as an ornamental for its unique fruits. fruiting branches can be used in tropical cut flower arrangements.
The plant is also reputed to have medicinal use in various treatments, from athlete's foot to irritability and restlessness. according to the nenek, in the traditional Malay practice, the plant & the fruit can be used for treating high blood pressure, breast cancer, diabetic & hemorrhoid to name a few~ how?? i've not a clue!!! it is somewhat questionable, the fruit is said to be inedible because it is poisonous, so how in the world does one uses it as medicine? "only the person who knows how, knows how..." well i guess,that's the beauty of God's creation~ there's always something good out of something bad & vice versa..
The fruit is oddly shaped with numerous brownish-red seeds in it.
other uses~ the juice of the fruit shows some detergent activity and said that it can be used for washing clothes. Wow~ u can actually use it to wash clothes- isn't that great!!??:P & the fruits are exported to Taiwan for use as religious offerings.
*ding-ding-ding!!!!
i'd probably should start thinking hard on cultivating this plant so that i can actually;-
  • export it to Taiwan;
  • sell it to the florist for flower arrangements;
  • create my own titty fruit brand detergent;
  • come up with some medicinal cure for all the various ailment stated above.... hmmm.... interesting....i could actually make a lot of money out of this... Schweet!! ;D
Laith & the titty...;P
The deeply lobed leaves have long spikes on its surface; the flowers are white to violet.
fruits turn a bright yellow-orange when ripe, skin is waxy, fruits are somewhat crunchy in texture~ Warning: do not eat as they are poisonous!
on average, the size of the fruit is about 8cm- it is as big as the barbie doll image on my ruler!
Gloria, Melman & friends (Madagascar) cam-whoring @my work station!
my titties collection~ courtesy of Laith, Mike & Sam- they will bring one back for me every time they're back from mengaji.
