Padded pop: from xs to XL and back.

i inherited Baba's body frame whom in turn inherited my Nene's body frame whom i have no clue who'd she inherited her petite body frame from for obvious reason i've never met my great grandparents so i wouldn't know, ie... i don't get fat or rather would and should never get fat... but...see the shadow in the pix?  even the shadow about a year ago says that i've gone nicely padded all around!

if anyone should take the responsibility of blame, it's kak Mimi, she fattens me up with her Lauk Jawa everyday! yeah i love her to bits but yeah totally blame her for my padded frame. d(^0^)b

have u ever realize that the last people to notice that u've gain some kilos are the closest to u and the people whom you seldom see are the ones to notice?

in my case obviously, i noticed (since early 2014) when  i can hardly fit into my jeans, the buttons on my work shirts were popping, i've always need to suck in my tummy when i wear my tight fitted tops, my XS size golf skirt slowly turned Small, after which i had to make do with Medium then L and to my horror quickly after that i had to feel comfortable in XL!! one good thing came out of it was that i didn't have to wear padded bras or even push up bras...they just ballooning blossom naturally @-@

going shopping with myubby becomes very uncomfortable when he insisted that he'd helped me look for the sizes. so i'll take the L/XL and let him look for the S/ M sizes for me to try on...hahahah...

u can run u can hide but the shadow will always find u

myubby whom i see everyday of course has been hinting for awhile but i just brush it off with."am i  not more 'cuddleble' now?  i was of course  in denial and he was just too smart to counter that.

then one day, myFIL whom i see everyday casually said in front of myubby "DIL, u've put on kilos!" i was stunned that he noticed and myubby was like" see Bah also notices". i was horriFAT!

a couple weeks later myMIL, whom i  also see everyday pointed out loud "U've gained quite some kilos haven't u DIL!" i almost bolted out the window at that very moment if i wasn't too padded up to squeeze through it.b(>.<)b

late November 2014, we were invited to a wedding. an excellent excuse for me to find a new dress, i said.   browsing through the sizes of one particular design, cutting and the material i  was confident i would at least fit into the L size but, no matter how much i sucked in and hold me breath in, L size was just a mission impossible. so i walked out the shop with head bow low, cheeks so red that i don't even remember putting any  blusher on when i left home that day,  eyes fixed on the floor  with the XL size dress in my hand -__________-

browsing through the photos of the wedding later, almost gave me one heart attack to another was the turning point.. 

realizing that my thighs say hello to each other and start a conversation every steps that i take, that i was huffing and puffing taking one flight of staircase up to and from my bedroom, myubby cheekily reminds me to tilt my head up so not to show my double chin was just way too much.

so i told myself enough is enough

after hours of online  research for the best diet programs; almost bought myself those online 'Best Diet Program" that is on offer for just one day only. after consulting with  New Atkins New You book that i bought for charity from my SIL's office.

I made a new years resolution that i would go on Atkin's diet starting on the first of Jan 2015 at 62kg. 

62!!!!?? haihh...

starting diligently with the 2 weeks Intro program  followed by phase two soon after that. i am well into my 8th month on Atkins now and am comfortably maintaining my 50kg and back at wearing my size S Shirts, Skirts, Shorts and dresseS.

it was Laith's 12th birthday last Friday. we did not plan for a party unlike last year. instead, we opted for a simple only us birthday dinner at Chilies. it was cosy n relaxing. mehubby n i took the opportunity to spend and enjoy the moment with him b4 he turns into those hormonal scary monster teen from only God knows where in the next couple of years....

for now..dear darling boy, hope u'd concentrate more on ur study since UPSR is just round the corner. tv, games, girlfriends and play can wait, there will be plenty of time for that since they won't be sitting there next to u giving out answers during that every parents nightmare of an exam.

If u love the mamak style soup with thick heavy gravy like soup n spiced type (not the western cream soup type) this is the place to be.

U have the choice of chicken, beef, oxtail, quail, gearbox, tongue, tendon, goat's brain, intestine, even goat's testical (for the Andrew Zimmerman type (though he can't stomach Durian of all things! ^shame^) ) and on the menu they have what they call Special: Power 'Steering' soup which i don't really have the stomach to ask :) or u can also have a mixed of any of the above according to ur taste n preference or sense of adventure.

as for us it's a perfect comfort food during rainy days, great cure for cold fever n most excellent to rid off sinuses :)

Blueberry Cheese tartlets minus the filling..

last sunday, my son laith n i planned to bake some blueberry cheese tartlets together but we ran out of  the cream cheese so off we went to grab some  at the bakery shop. since i was quite in a hurry to get the spring cleaning done before we could proceed with our  baking plan, i grabbed the first 'C' cheese that i saw in the chiller

Laith was all excited about it that he planed  to bring some to school for his teachers and friends to share.

once the pastry was finally in the oven, it's time to make the cheese filling...so out came all the ingredients plus the main ingredients the Cream cheese! while measuring the icing sugar i took a glance at the cheese packaging cos somehow i just realized that it didn't look like the usual Phili cream cheese that we normally use and my heart suddenly stopped beating for a second....yep, instead of 'Cream' cheese, i bought a 'Cheddar'cheese instead!!! oops maBaaad!! :P

 

it was too late to go out and get the cream chese from the store, so i kept the tartlet shells in a container n stored in the fridge for out next day complete blueberry cheese tartlets attempt....oh btway at this point, laith had refuse to talk to me for the failed mission....

but the sulking only lasted for just a bit cos the next day he was all smile again when we finally managed to finished the job and even baked a second batch.

he brought some to school the next day and proudly told me later that some of his friends want to order some those tartlets from him.

often whenever i receive anonymous text messages on my cell i would often ignore it n automatically press the delete button but there are some that i kept just becouse they crack me up whenever i need cheering up...;P

when i received this particular one yesterday, i can't help feeling a lil bit adventurous...well playful is a better word  for it really...

11th anniversary dinner @ Restoran Windmill, Kajang.

the initial plan was to have our anniversary din-din at Victoria Secret Station (ampang / damansara) however since the day fell on sunday and that laith has school the next day, we didn't want him to miss his bedtime@ 9pm & mehubby wanted to watch MU vs Lilypool's football match on telly so, we opted for Restoran Windmill instead cos it's about 8-10 mins drive from home.

 for some reason, the restaurant was practically empty...we could actually bergolek-golek from end to end...if we had wanted to...;P

 mehubby's starfruit juice & my health juice (cucumber, apple, guava & celery mixed juice)...err the celery taste is most outstanding though...;P

i asked for shrimp & mango coctail but i guess mango is out of season so i got shrimp & laichi coctail instead~sukati je!!!

mehubby's spare ribs was good but may be he should asked for the sauce with chili instead of without.

 my black pepper ostrich steak...it was good but it looked like beef, it tasted like beef...so i'm not sure if it's actually ostrich that they gave me..;P

our anniversary treat @ Sushi King

it was kinda funny when Laith told us that he wanted to treat us to a meal for our wedding anniversary using his duit raya...since we've already made an arrangement to have dinner for two that Sunday we tried telling him not to bother & should save his duit raya instead but he insisted until at one point he merajuk'ed' & refused to talk to us...hehhee..
i guess now he is at the age when he understood what anniversary is (thanks to the amount of programs on disney channel that he watches on TV) & thinks that a child should treat his parents on that special day...ahhhh... so sweet...:D

finally, we all agreed  to have family lunch at Sushi King ( simply because he loves sushi ;P) Metro Point , Kajang.
~oh but on a constant reminder not to eat over his budget! hahaha... ~he kept tabs at how much we've eaten & at one point asked for a pen & paper to calculate!!! xD

wanna share our berbuka out that we had last week at Restoran Sari Ratu @ Dataran Glomac, Kelana Jaya.

been here before but never got around to do any updating...so here's my review.

to ensure a table for the 3 of us (mehubby, laith & i ), i made a reservation at around 11 in the morning on Merdeka day, cos i know being a public holiday in the month of Ramadhan it's not at all wise to just do  'ala- ala terjah saje' walk- in reservation. 

at around 5pm after a hopeless & unsuccessful raya shopping for my baju raya at Sunway Pyramid ;(,

love the Raya deco at Sunway Pyramid though...

we decided to drop by at the restaurant to confirm our reservation & to order our food for berbuka. even though there were 3 of us, i decided to just order for a portion for 1 or two of  the dishes. apart from laith, mehubby & i have very small  tummies....we can't eat much for berbuka anyway. satisfied with the order we went off to Giant mall to kill the time before azan. nearing the time for berbuka, we happily claimed out seats...at table no 4.

lalalala...so lalalahappy that finally after craving for nasi padang from b4 we went to bali until we came back...we finally, finally  managed to get around it.. for buka puasa....hmmm...yumm...:D

here's what we ordered originally....

1) 3 plates of white rice, 

2) 3 pieces of Ayam POP~ their pet name for their ayam penyet... 'POP' stands for Popular, 

3) 2 portions of Cili/ Sambal Ijo (Sambal Hijau)- equivalent to sambal belacan. 

4) 2 portions of masak lemak Tunjang (urat), 

5) 2 portions of masak lemak pucuk ubi, 

6) 2 portion of masak lemak Otak ( yes baybeh , otak as in brain),

7) a portion of kacang buncis, 

8) 2 pieces of Paru (also known as kayu) 

*we're not a big fan of masak lemak, but at Sari Ratu the various masak lemak that they have to offer are to die for...

 Paru aka the most expensive (Don't believe me, i'll show the receipt at the end of this post.) Kayu we've ever eaten!!!( it looks like paru but don't be fooled, it tasted like kayu yang sangat keras!)will be the first & the last time we'll ever eat this particular 'thing'!

sadly, no pictures of the masak lemak tunjang & ayam POP though, cos after a few failed attempts at reminding the waiter & waitresses for the remainder of our order, i had to go to the lauk counter myself & complained that there were still lauks that they have not served & was very disappointed when told that..they'll send the tunjang shortly but never the Ayam Pop- because THERE ISN"T ANYMORE AYAM POP LEFT~ habis sudah......WARHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....... :'O  

made reservation at 11am, confirmed booking & ordered the food( at 5pm in person) way before the other patrons even thought of where to berbuka that day & we didn't get our freaking AYAM POP!!!  Adil ka??

*sigh*...kalau dah tak dak rezeki nak bat canner kan...;(  *ayat menyedapkan hati ayam pop ;(....*

well anyway, for drinks, me hubby had esteller, laith had es shanghai ~ both are ABC the Indonesian version & i had apokat (avocado)...yummy!!!

 oh if u like buah kabung, Es Shanghai has loads in in.

seriously in general, we really did enjoy the food...EXCEPT for the part that we didn't get our hands on that oh so DIVA Ayam POP tu lah...& for the PARU KAYU yang makan boleh patah gigi tuh...costs RM11.60 for 2 keping??? *mak,mak pergi pasar, mak jangan lupa beli paru sekelo ye mak!"~for that same price according to meMIL.

so people, if ever wanna try a great nasi padang, Sari Ratu is the place to be but stay clear off the Incredible PARU KAYU~ don't say i didn't warn u! if going for berbuka puasa, make sure to make reservation, confirm booking by ordering ur food early & stand in front of the food counter an hour b4 berbuka to make sure that the "oh i'm so POPULAR i could be a DIVA ayam" get to ur table & not others! *we've learned the hard disappointing way...;(

* note to self: at least we still got to eat~ count ur blessing sunny!

Happy Ramadhan... a few more days to go... will there be drama...stay tune!
