THIS IS WAR! Dusk Till Dawn - series 1 (31July-1August)

Time: Saturday @ 21:00 - Sunday @ 03:00
Location: Tbun CC Aman Suria
Info~What is it All About: Company Of Heroes & Call Of Duty: World at War & Modern Warfare multi-player frag fest galore yo!!!
(in short~it's a computer game!!)
well that's what happened last weekend to the gang of Big Boys( a mixture of our paintball mates & mutual friends-organised by me BIL Kerry) ~ mehubby &mebaby included.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
we seriously had a long, longggggggg weekend. all kind of activities cramp in one.here i simply put em in points.
*started off with us having nasi kerabu breakfast in semenyih ( the best  we found in the area).
* then, laith & i went to my niece's bertunang in Shah Alam while me hubby had his St' John's reunion in PJ.
*went to Amcorp mall for books @ book xcess & bought that double- decker 2 volumes MAD compilation.
* went to  Aman Suria & had din-din at that so called "Sedap"~ (biasa-biasa je sebenarnye) nasi kandar mamak.
* Kerry & Sue arrived, Kerry joins the gamer's dinner party, sue & i head down to the Curves konon-berangan nak ber karaoke together with Siti. tapi hampa belaka cos it's saturday nite so all rooms are booked up sampai pagi. phewwh lega!!! wasn't really looking forward to menyeksakan deria pendengaran mereka-mereka yang terlibat.
*so plan B was to go Urut kaki at the emerald spa near Tbun Aman Suria after sue & siti had theirr dinner.
* went around looking for kekosongan tempat & ended up layparking at the Apartment.  the Shepard's pie sue ordered was yummy but i already had my sedap dinner at that sedap mamak...erkk.. sounds tak sedap betul kan! so i only had some drinks.
was excited to run into(or rather she saw & waved & called and shouted to daun keladi~ tak perasan lansung!) for me into Raz my best friend at uni. it was a quick touch & go sort of reunion cos she was heading home already. been along-long time since i saw her personally face to face except in facebook. yeah will definitely make an effort to go meet up soon. ..errgh me is so terrible at keeping in touch.
*so we( Sue, Y & Siti (b4 she too had to leave) stayed at the Apartment until the waiters  told us they'r taking last order.
* thinking the tempat urut kaki was still open we headed back to Aman Suria & found out that the place was already closed for the nite. so we ended up at that lil penang restaurant nearby & order more drinks & laksa soup for sue.
 we turned out to be the last customers sebab they had to wait for us to finish up & leave b4 they can actually pull down the grill...heheehe..poor thing.
*not knowing what else to do we went into TBun & start playing games too! ;P
* the boys finally finished at about 4am & we all went back to that sedap nasi kandar and eat again...practice bersahurlah kononye....
*we finally got home at 530am & went straight to bed sampai lah kul 1230 tengahari...had lunch with english breakfast~ sausage, eggs suny side up, bake beans & toast. :P
* we did Dvds merathon~the Unthinkable (uhh- suspen giler tengok citer nih), when in Rome ( not bad though Romantic comedy always ends with predictable ending), copout ( i ended up dozed off at this one...i think it's kinda drag).
*for dinner, we tried this Seri Intan restaurant in pekan semenyih. not bad at all i would say. the kueh tiew ladna was great, the sate kambing was good too....
* after we picked up laith's yet another new pair of glasses, went home got everything ready for laith's school tomorrow, tuck him into bed went down watch Public enemy on cable & zzzzzzzzzzzzz for the nite.
 i'm starving....need some lunch now.
The A- Team
i've always been very skeptical about the movie when i first heard about it being made. got to watch it last week, well i guest i've been right! being the TV series fan in the 80's( i was about  8-9 yo then), i've video taped (during those VHS days) it & watched it over & over again & enjoyed every episode as much i did the first time.
may be to those who never got to watch the original (TV series), the movie version is good but nahhhhhhhh...it was ok but lack of originality...
The original Team were absolutely brilliant.
The late George Peppard was Hannibal who always had a plan and only enjoyed himself when there were bullets flying past him and things getting blown up.
Mr T played the grumpy B.A. Baracus whose heart was in the wrong place. He was tough but scared of flying.
Dirk Benedict played Faceman who was the ultimate conman. He could play any part and get anything for the team.
Dwight Schultz played the mad howlin'Murdock who may have been mad but he could certainly be counted on.
of course i understood the part where they had to change the plot
from :being some Vietnam vets,
to: a group of  Iraq war veterans framed for a crime they didn't commit.
or else they'll be too old for the missions now!
The movie version Team?
Liam Neeson was ok as Col.John 'Hanibal' Smith, not bad ~still prefer the late Mr Peppard.
Bradley Cooper was actually great at playing Lt. 'Faceman' Peck. in fact among all the casts he's the best.
Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson...hmmm..first & foremost, part of the reason the A- team was popular then was because of BA's bling-blings identity  & even scared of flying he was one tough guy, who loves to use the word Fool a lot...but the remake BA is just too soft & his bling-blings were replaced with a couple of dogtags... wtf??? (or was that Mr T's identity?)
Sharlto Copley as Murdock? another disappointment. he's just not loony enough to play the character.
The really good thing about the A-Team was that it was totally crazy and didn't take itself seriously.
they could do anything. they could evade the US army constantly and they could build anything from scrap.the only thing they couldn't do was shoot anyone-they always missed( not the case in the movie version)! It was all these crazy things that made the A-Team the (TV series)  great.
well i would say good try but not enough ummph!
Prince of Persia~the sands of time.
managed to to go watch the movie  with mehubby, meFIL & the kids last wednesday.
my review on the movie basically is this: after all the excitements, the battle & the adrenalin rush and all..the Prince basically syok sendiri...is as if he was just daydreaming cos no one knew anything about it or what actually happened or have the slightest feeling of rendezvous..sadly, even the princess as the dagger's guardian as she claimed to be has not the slightest recognition of the prince who was the hero/ saviour of the story! the movie in general was not bad but definitely not the storyline.
2012
finally got to go watch the much talk about film. i can't really comment cos i didn't get to watch from the beginning since the popcorn queue (had to have them since it's a 2 hrs, 38 mins movie) was unbelievably long, i missed the first couple of scenes which somehow spoiled the mood & that didn't help with having to sit next to a group of noisy annoying young teenage girls that kept on squeaking, screaming, commentating as well as laughing between scenes through out the movie.
the visual effects were exceptionally good almost believable.
although understandably being a Hollywood film, of course most of the main characters survived the most tremendous of disaster one after another, Amazing! ;P
i'm not sure what to make out of the film though, it could probably b'cos of the popcorn or was so annoyingly distracted by the girls next door or maybe, simply maybe i believe that what's going to happen is going to happen, whether life goes on or not beyond 2012, only 4JJI knows. to repent or not to repent that is the question, only we & ourselves to decide....
Michael Jackson's This is IT.
Plot: A compilation of interviews, rehearsals and backstage footage of Michael Jackson as he prepared for his series of sold-out shows in London.
Wow! was the only word that came out of my mouth while watching the movie. mehubby was awfully quiet as though he wished he's one of those watching a live rehearsals instead. in fact the whole theater was quiet come to think of it...& i had goosebumps too!
of course it was kinda strange to be watching a concert rehersal in a movie theater but it's almost like watching his actual concert, he was so dedicated, full of life during the rehearsals. at the age of almost 50 he was so so incredibly fit, his only concern was his voice but never his stamina, he wasn't even panting like most people / perfomers would. it's amazing to see how every single part of his body moves during those rehearsals! & oh his voice....it's like he was lip singing but he certainly did NOT!!!
credits must also be given to the director~Kenny Ortega & the crew members~ the back up singers, the musicians the dancers, the technicians & every single person involved in the production too. they took the opportunity as the selected few who were lucky enough to be working with MJ like they knew there won't be a second chance after that if they didn't! & everyone in the team seems to adore him, that's not so strange either given that he was full of love & generous about it too..
watching him in the so called movie, u'd never guess that's he's gone now. nope, definitely not a sign of stress ( if he did, maybe they just didn't show it, & that, we'll never know) or that he was ready to leave the world or even take his own life. the way i see it, he was so looking forward to the concert, that much is true....Damn those people who played GOD on him!
if his rehearsals was that much intriguing, just imagine the actual concert....
he's certainly the King of Pop & remains a legend....
if u love Michael Jackson, the movie is definitely worth watching, & i certainly don't mind watching it again & again & again..& again....
REST in PEACE now MJ.
Twilight the movie vs Twilight the novel...
i watched Twilight the movie by accident with my son Laith ( the ticket for the movie( i don't remember what now) that i was to take him watch was sold out) so we opted to watch Twilight instead. didn't regret the choice at all...& luckily it was rated PG13 for Laith to be able to watch.
of course at first i thought it was about those blood curdling gory type of movie that i don't usual enjoy watching, but surprisingly turn out to be a forbidden romance of two worlds type...i like!!!
somehow the sexy vampire characters in Twilight are more or less similar but a modern version to the Interview with the Vampire movie only of different genre of course. but sexy all the same!!!
ok now the vs part...
i've just finished reading the novel that i bought from the book fair...
surprisingly (unlike all my movies vs the books experieces), the film- the dialogs, the plots though skipped, enhanced, exaggerated or changed a lil here & there...was like watching a summary of the novel. only Bella Swan sounds more adorable in the book then the little annoying Bella Swan in the movie. Edward Cullen...need i say more...the character in the movie fits the novel character perfectly... biased i know... but oh well deal with it! ;p
i have now started on the next series~New Moon, now it makes me curious what's the film would be like...
our DVD marathon...
ok this entry was actually written sometime during the 1st week of Ramadhan but i never managed to finish it because of the reasons stated on my latest post...tq ;P
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

it was the 1st day of Ramadhan & we've missed our sahur for some stupid reason~ i forgot to reset my alarm clock(ie 5am) from just Monday - Friday (Laith school weekdays) to Monday- Sunday setting!!!
pity my darling son for that...sorry babe...it won't happen again k..

since it's our 1st free Saturday for a long time.. for the past few months... decided to stay at home & be lazy....hmmm bless!!!

so what better things to do then watch DVD at the comfort of our own home...only minus the tidbits & snacks & drinks...

first DVd: Outlander (2008)
(sorry this a a copy a paste version too lazy to write the synopsis myself!)

Outlander begins when a space craft crashes onto planet earth. The ship lands in a lake situated around the local fjords of ancient Norway in the time of the Vikings. From the wreckage emerge two bitter enemies: a soldier from another world that spoke Icelandic for some unknown reason and stated that he came from an Island to the North Kainan and a bloodthirsty creature known as the Moorwen. Man and monster both seek revenge for violence committed against them. As the Moorwen ravages the Viking world, killing everything in its path, Kainan forms an alliance with the primitive but fierce warriors. Whilst trying to hunt for the Moorwen, war brews among the Vikings, which ends with both sides taking immense losses. As the enemy Vikings retreat into the forests, the Moorwen strikes, leaving the vikings no choice but to run for help to their once close enemies. Together, the two sides attempt to destroy the Moorwen as a single band of Vikings. The Vikings thus construct a pit filled with oil to lure the Moorwen inside and plan to ignite the fuel, burning the Moorwen, with the help of Kainan. The plan to incinerate the Moorwen fails, leaving the village to take massive casualties, and with the surprise that the Moorwen had given birth to a new, younger Moorwen, which surprises the Vikings from behind and killing the Viking Leader in the process. This leaves the villages in fear and its warriors demoralised, most leaving the village in search of a new home and safety. Kainan and a remaining loyal Vikings stand together to destroy the Moorwen once and for all. Kainan thus realizes from the last battle that the Moorwen is almost impenetrable with the current metals used and thus extracts metals from his sunken space ship. Giving the metals to the smith, he combines his advanced technology with ancient Iron Age weapons, and goes on to the final battle with the Moorwen.

my verdict: Although it's a strange combination between a spacecraft thingy with a totally primitive vikings fighting against some auto space alien monster, i did enjoy the movie nonetheless!

2nd DvD: Pink Panther 2

When the world's greatest treasures, including the Pink Panther Diamond, are stolen, only one man can solve the mystery: Clouseau (Steve Martin). Together with his partner Ponton (Jean Reno) and a team of international detectives, the bumbling detective must catch the thief and retrieve the artifacts -- without causing too much collateral damage in the process.

my verdict: it's funny but not as hilarious as the 1st one... i could watch the 1st movie over & over again & still laughing my head off! xD

3rd dVd: Knowing

A time capsule containing a cryptic message about the coming apocalypse sends a concerned father on a race to prevent the horrific events from unfolding as predicted in this sci-fi thriller directed by Alex Proyas (Dark City) and starring Nicolas Cage. 1958: As the dedication ceremony for a newly constructed elementary school gets under way, a time capsule containing student drawings of the future is buried on the grounds and scheduled to be unearthed on the school's 50th anniversary. Instead of submitting a drawing, however, one little girl scribbles a series of seemingly random numbers on her paper before it is buried. Fifty years later, the time capsule is unearthed for a new generation of students to examine. Young Caleb Koestler (Chandler Canterbury) is one of those students. The mysterious sequence of numbers falling into his possession, Caleb takes the paper to his father, Professor John Koestler (Cage), for examination. Studying the numbers, Professor Koestler soon discovers that they aren't random at all, but an encoded message containing the precise dates, death tolls, and coordinates of every major disaster since the time capsule was buried. Not only that, but the document also indicates that there will be three more such events, the last of which indicates a doomsday scenario that appears directly tied to Professor Koestler and Caleb. His desperate plea to authorities falling on deaf ears, Professor Koestler realizes that his only hope for preventing more lives from being lost is to take personal action. Though the author of the prophecies is no longer living, Professor Koestler is eventually able to track down her daughter Diana Wayland (Rose Byrne), and granddaughter Abby, who reluctantly agree to aid in the investigation. As the final date on the list draws near, Professor Koestler enters into a frantic race against time to prevent destruction on a global scale, in the process realizing that in order to save millions of lives, he may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

my verdict: i wouldn't want to be in the position to know such things or event would happen & when.... this movie is basically a cross between a story about the end of the world & Noah's Arc!

4th & final dvD: Fast & Furious 4

“When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanoeuvre him.”

my verdict: Although i am not one of those car race movie fan, i've watched all 4 & i love this one the most.

& that was the last we watched that day b4 we left for our berbuka @ my PIL's.

PS, I LOVE U the book vs the movie..

Book Description (sorry this is a copy paste description, too lazy to write myself)

′Remember wonderful memories, but don′t be afraid to make some more.′

Holly and Gerry had the perfect life. Happily married, living in Dublin close to their friends and family, and with a brilliant social life, they had the world at their feet. Or so they thought. When Gerry dies, Holly is devastated. On the eve of her 30th birthday, the man who was her lover, her best friend, her rock, has left her. But Gerry promised he′d always be there for Holly. And he is: his last bequest to her is The List, a bundle of notes which form a monthly mission for Holly to get her life back on track.

As the notes are gradually opened, and as the year unfolds, Holly is both cheered up and challenged. The man who knows Holly better than anyone sets out to teach her that life goes on. With some help from her friends, and her noisy and loving family, Holly finds herself laughing, crying, singing, dancing - and being braver than ever before. Life is for living, she realises - but it always helps if there′s an angel watching over you.

i love the definitely love the book better...i cried when i read it..it was definitely heart wrenching. personnaly, i've experiences the loss of a loved one once & i could relate...i mean it's nothing like the book of course but the feeling of u know won't be able to see that person ever again is just too much to take...

vs
when i bought the DVD version of the same title adapted from the book... & decided to watch it last nite...
i was yawning all the way thru... it was nothing like the book!!!
the castings ware such a disappointment, Hillary Swank just has so much to learn when it comes to playing a romantic role & so does Gerard Butler..saw him play the tough macho in the film- 300...just not cute enough to take up the Gerry role... Lisa Kudrow was just so not funny...
i was so looking forward to the part when Holly went to the travel agency to collect her tickets...& nothing happened!!! i just had to push the tissue box away...way out of my way...no use for them...on the other hand, at least i get to save one tissue box this month!

i guess i have yet to learn my lesson...once i've read the books, i should not bother watch the movie...& vice versa...;p
then again if u don't read & u love chic lit movie, this perhaps is ur movie...
